TA-DA!!!!!
OF COURSE!!!! It's Sophie's new prosthesis!!!!!! She got it today!
Woo Hoo!! Can you tell I'm just a tad excited;-)??!!
Isn't it beautiful???!!!! I think it just screams Sophie:-).
I'm sure some of you may be a bit surprised as to it's appearance?
'Where's the skin' you may be asking?
Well, Sophie had a choice....make it look as close as possible to a natural leg, (exoskeleton) or personalize it with some laminated fabric and let the 'hardware' show around the ankle(endoskeleton).
What can I say....my girl likes to have fun, and I think Sophie has definitely found her style, AND her stride!!
After MANY hours of looking for the perfect fabric, Sophie fell in love with the final selection after seeing it laminated on a leg. On top of being able to add some color and have some fun in it's design...I was given some welcomed 'BTDT, you may want to consider, words of wisdom' from a fellow adoptive mom of a beautiful child with a limb difference......
'Many times when kids have an exoskeleton (looks like a leg) they actually get more/longer stares, as folks are trying to figure out ‘just what isn’t quite right’ about the leg. When you have endoskeleton it is obvious it's not a real leg, so folks get over it quicker, if you know what I mean???'....Thanks Kelley!

The plan is now for Sophie to just be a kid and use her new prosthesis;-). We'll see Brock in about 2 weeks for a check up/tune up....when he'll make any necessary adjustments.

It's SO, SO wonderful to see Sophie walking again!!!! Every step she takes is such a blessing.

Just the fact she chose this shows what confidence and grace she already has at her age! I think that is the most beautiful leg I have ever seen!!!!! And, I am just in awe of Sophie's strength and will to persevere!!!! And kudos to you for allowing her to shine in the special way God has created her too!!!!! She is such a light, and your little girl is going to inspire so many other children (not to mention every adult that meets her) with her very presence, guts and story!
Enjoy every minute Sophie! You have lots of exploring to do!

I was slowly scrolling down, one picture at a time trying to figure out your clues. When I got the the full picture my jaw about hit the floor- that leg is just so amazingly awesome!!! And sooo Sophie. Wow!! Work it girl! Be a kid and have fun indeed.

That is the "awesomest" leg EVER!! It IS just SO Sophie! :) How is she doing after having it for a month and a half now? I'm sure she is just thriving and enjoying her new-found freedom. She has so much style, I just love it!! I'm so proud of her (and you) for your stregth through this journey and allowing her to blossom just the way God formed her! I can't wait to see all that He has in store for her life!
